Drones have become an increasingly popular tool in various technical industries for their ability to access difficult terrain and accurately track and map areas with high-resolution equipment. One field that has benefitted from the application of drones is land surveying and other similar industries. Some common activities in this industry that can be improved by the usage of drones include 3D mapping, topographic mapping, digital elevation models (DEMs), and coloured point clouds, which use drones with LiDAR and/or photogrammetric cameras to collect wide-ranging data. Using drones allows for improved accuracy of measurements, safely accessing difficult areas for measurements, and cost savings with reduced labour costs along with increased efficiency.
