Final Project for LE/MECH 3302 - Mechanisms for Mechanical Systems
The landing gear on an airplane is not essential to flight, however, it is essential for a smooth landing. The development of flight is one of the engineering marvels of the 20th century. However, one often overlooked facet of flight is the ability to bring the plane back down to the ground safely. This is why landing gear is one of the most important parts of the aircraft.
Using SolidWorks as the CAD main designing software of the landing gears mechanism, we have created multiple parts using the assigned 2D drawing provided in the project outlines, figure 01 illustrates the mechanism, note that further on, we are calling this position “assigned position”.
The assigned position has some constraints that we are talking about in the next section, the tire in this position is parallel to the runway, and the Link A and the Brace are aligned together at 180 degrees.
